Vetsouth opened the Balclutha veterinary clinic in April 2017 with the purpose of servicing our clients in South Otago. In the past few years the dairy industry has further expanded in this part of the region but sheep have still got a strong presence in this beautiful area too. Dan Cragg heads up the Balclutha vet clinic, supported by additional vets from Gore and Clydevale, providing 24 hour veterinary services to the Clutha region. For your animals' health, there is also a full shop with everything you need in stock.

Dan graduated from Massey in 2011 and started working in VetSouth Winton for three and a half years. After this he married his wonderful wife Sarah and commenced on a long two year honeymoon around UK and Europe. After learning the UK system of farming and vetting, he has recently returned to VetSouth to head up the Balclutha branch. Dan is a very keen hunter and tries to get in the bush as much as possible. He is also a volunteer firefighter and has recently transferred to the Balclutha Brigade.

A Tapanui local, Laura has been working for VetSouth full time since 2018, and casually on and off before that. A valued member of the Vet Tech team and with a passion for dairy and young stock work, Laura loves being able to get outside and amongst it with farmers. She was educated at Otago Polytechnic, gaining a certificate of Veterinary Nursing (2012) and spends her spare time rearing calves and refereeing rugby.
